Collinite 845 Insulator Wax

Don’t be put off by the simple packaging, but Collinite No 845 Insulator Wax is probably one of the best car waxes currently available.

When used on the clear coat of cars it leaves a highly glossly wet look look that will outlast just about any other car wax.

The wax is incredibly durable forming a protective layer on your car that will not break down easily, providing perfect protection from the winter months and from rain, salt spray, bugs, dew, birds and smog.

It is hand-crafted and poured in the USA.

  • Easy on, easy off application
  • Durable weather protection
  • No. 1 selling, 'most talked about' Collinite product

Usage

Collinite 845 Insulator Wax is recommended to be only applied by hand. For optimum results, it should be applied to car paint that has just been properly cleaned and dried. As with all waxes a little goes along way, it is the same with Collinite 845 Insulator Wax as it should be applied a panel at a time, thinly and evenly using a Foam Applicator Pad or a or a Dodo Juice Finger Mitt.

The resulting film should be left to cure for between 5-10 minutes, as it begins to haze it can then buffed off carefully using a waffle microfibre cloth.

We always recommend you read the manufacturers instructions before use.

I've used this once. It gets good reviews, but I'm not so sure. I find Carnauba easier to apply, easier to remove and it shines better. I had to warm the bottle to get it to pour out.
I'm still on the fence with this one.

Great wax, didn't realise that you had to use it liquid at first  still even as a semi solid it spreads well, 845s is a great wax in that you don't have to let it dry to a haze before removing.

Like others I use it as a winter wax, which I suppose is it's purpose, and it does a 5* job.

Now 476s or 915 for my summer wax ?????

845 is a strange wax in that it’s pretty much solid in the bottle, but warm it up on a radiator or in a jug of warm water and the wax changes from hard to liquid pretty quickly. Once the wax is fluid, dab a small amount on a standard applicator pad and apply to the vehicle. I only ever do one panel at a time; allow it to haze then buff off with a microfiber towel. If you find it difficult to remove, you’ve applied the product too thick. 845 has a strong petroleum smell to it and spreads easily due to the makeup of the carriers. Durability is good, but it will not last months and months as most people claim. The video below shows 845 in the best case scenario; once the vehicle gets dirty, the wax will become “grabby” and you’ll lose that sheeting/beading effect. For me, 845 is a winter wax that I only expect to get about two months of “protection” from. 845 will not change the aesthetic look of the vehicle like some carnauba waxes will. All things considered, it’s worth having in your detailing armoury as long as you understand its limitations.
